Endurance Race 2018 - Sunday 18th February.

With the course set (a squashed rectangle) to take advantage of the SE wind, 15 skippers started the third running of this event. The fleet started on an extended first tacking leg from buoys 3 and 4. However, the first and second marks proved to be the places where positions swapped consistently throughout the hour race and it’s where the eventual winners took the best advantage.

The racing across the whole fleet was close with positions changing from one leg to the next. As the race began to settle into a pattern Chris (43), Kevin (88), Tony (185) and Rod (116) swapped and changed places in the MC class. In RTR, Alan (09), Russ (7) and later Steve (34) and John (60) were closely packed together.

With the time quickly running down to the hour mark, Alan (09) stretched out a lead of about half a lap from the others in his class. In MC class, Chris (43) was way ahead of the others lapping everyone in the fleet. Tony (185) managed the last turn slightly better and had a half a reach advantage over the third and four places. Well done to everyone taking part, some very competitive and entertaining racing with the usual good banter!

Thank you to Carol and Nigel for doing the lap counting and scores.
